The information below was provided to the City of Boiling Spring Lakes by the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension Office and the NC State Cooperative Extension Office regarding the vegetation in our lake beds.
The vegetation in the lake beds is essential to prevent erosion and keep sediment in place while construction is underway.
Most vegetation/trees will die back when the lake beds are re-flooded.
Post flooding, the dead trees and plants will actually create good underwater habitat to support fish.
Areas where vegetation is undesirable or invasive can be spot treated by our lake management team.
